Is this man the most evil villain of 21st century so far?
· 1989-- When Cheney became eligible for the draft, during the Vietnam War, he applied for and received five draft deferments. In 1989, The Washington Post writer George C. Wilson interviewed Cheney as the next Secretary of Defense; when asked about his deferments, Cheney reportedly said, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service." Cheney testified during his confirmation hearings in 1989 that he received deferments to finish a college career that lasted six years rather than four, owing to sub-par academic performance and the need to work to pay for his education. He flunked out of 2 colleges.
· 1989-1993—Under G Bush, he conducted the invasion of Panama and Operation Desert Storm. He also expressed that Iraq and Iran could gain nuclear power in the near future and criticized NATO’s response to these claims.
· 1990-- Cheney persuaded the Saudi Arabian (world’s leading producer of Oil) aristocracy to allow bases for US ground troops and war planes in the nation. This was an important element of the success of the Gulf War, and pissed off Islamists who opposed having non-Muslim armies near their holy sites.
· 1995-2000—Chairman and C.E.O. of Halliburton…the second largest oilfield service company in the world, the largest in America.
· 2000—left Halliburton with a $36,000,000 (the package was not reported until 2004) severance package, left so he could run with GWB as his vice president.
· 2000-- A few months before the election Cheney put his home in Dallas up for sale and changed his drivers' license and voter registration back to Wyoming. This change was necessary to allow Texas' presidential electors to vote for both Bush and Cheney without contravening the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which forbids electors from voting for someone from their own state for both President and Vice-President. So Bush could have lost Texas.
· 2000/2001-- Cheney advocated Donald Rumsfeld for the post of Secretary of Defense to counter the influence of Colin Powell at the State Department, and tried unsuccessfully to have Paul Wolfowitz named to replace George Tenet as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
· Sept. 11 2001—Cheney took command of numerous “war games” (which were sponsored by US Government) before and during the attacks. One of which was the “live-fly” exercises being ran by NORAD. These exercises simulated commercial airlines being hijacked and used as weapons. NORAD, being to consumed in their “war games”, which took place in Alaska and Northern Canada, far away from New York and D.C. did nothing. Up until that point, NORAD had a 100% success rate in intercepting aircraft (67 times in the year leading up to 9/11…67/68 not good enough).
· Sept. 12 2001—another “war game” was set to take place, this time in New York however. The plan was to “test a plan to distribute antibiotics to the entire city population during a bioterrorism attack”. FEMA was already in New York on September 10th, stationed at Pier 29.
· 2001—Before the Iraq invasion, there was a contract for the oil in Iraq that was supposed to let companies bid for the contract. There was only one company allowed to bid (don’t understand how this makes sense, but its true)…Halliburton. They won the “bid” with a $7,000,000 settlement. He and Rumsfeld took charge in lying to Americans in saying that either A.) Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or B.) They were linked to Al-Qaeda…neither have been proven to be true, with only small amounts of al-Qaeda in Iraq at the time (since the American invasion, more al-Qaeda members have flocked to Iraq)
· 2003—Cheney, a prominent member of the National Energy Policy Development Group (NEPDG), is accused by multiple sources of establishing a “4th branch of government” after he refused to release the NEPDG documents (following the whole Enron scandal), citing his executive privilege to deny congressional information requests
· 2005—A top official for Halliburton, who worked there for 20 years, claims that Rumsfeld and Cheney are the ones who are running the Iraq oil contract. A couple days later the official was fired for “poor performance”. A settlement was reached to keep the official’s lips sealed.
· Feb. 2007—Cheney’s assassination attempt at Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan.
· 2007—Cheney’s chief of staff (Scooter Libby) is convicted of four felony counts for obstruction of justice and lying to federal investigators.
· 2007—Cheney also received half a million dollars from Halliburton over the course of his vice presidency, as more severance.
· 2008-- Cheney responded to a question on ABC about public opinion polls showing that Americans had lost confidence in the war by simply replying "So?”
· 2009—President Obama (who’s a distant cousin of Cheney’s) gives Cheney an extended period of time to have secret service follow him around. (supposed to be only 6 months)
· July 2009— Fairley new CIA Director Leon E. Panetta told the Senate and House intelligence committees that the CIA withheld information about a secret counter-terrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from Dick Cheney. Cheney claims this program was discarded and never become of anything. 2 years later…Panetta now works as Secretary of Defense
· Dec. 2009-- On Dec. 29, 2009, four days after the attempted bombing of an international passenger flight from Netherlands to United States, Cheney criticized Obama: "[We] are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren't, it makes us less safe. Why doesn't he want to admit we're at war? It doesn't fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn't fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency—social transformation—the restructuring of American society.”
· 2010—Halliburton is forced to pay $35,000,000 to Nigeria, in an effort to cover up the information of how the US bribed Nigeria (a top 10 oil producer in the World). Dick Cheney would have been the one to get charged with the most serious crime. Nigerian official’s claim THAT Cheney/Halliburton PAID bribes of up to $180,000,000 to secure oil from the country. Halliburton actually ended up paying Nigeria $250,000,000 to drop the lawsuit.
· 2011—Reportedly Cheney is releasing a book of his memoirs, which in it include the following “that in his second term George W. Bush ignored Cheney's advice and, in a word, went "soft". The book goes along with his "cast iron strength at all times—never apologize, never explain" motto and explains how Bush didn’t have that “strength” second term. Maybe Bush woke up from his puppet coma and realized all the wrong doings of Cheney? (Just a little bit to late however…)
· 1995-2010—The Federal Contractor Misconduct Database details 10 instances of misconduct since 1995 under which Halliburton has agreed to pay settlements of $791 million
Saddam was hung for killing 200,000 iraqi civilians spanning almost 20 years
US military has killed 800,000 iraqi civilians in 10 years and no one so far has been charged….
just saying....
